This entrepreneur garners new networking and business contacts with prayer.
I’ve found good success in public speaking. When I present to one group, I make a connection to speak someplace else.
The speaking hasn’t necessarily led to tons of clients or business but I know when I offer something of value, I am blessed too.
For example, today I met with the one client that came directly from my presentation. We meet monthly to discuss how to best support and communicate with his customers and grow his business as a result (my specialty). It’s a nice opportunity to apply the principles and experiences I have had to his business – I love it and he does too.
I’m bringing up this topic because today I just booked another speaking engagement that came from more word of mouth - which is very nice. Additionally, I’m working to help introduce other speakers I know so they can present to these groups as well.
I’ve seen steady speaking opportunities and next month I have my biggest conference yet. That should be exciting and challenging since I have 90 minutes for my session when previously I’ve only talked 20 to 30 minutes. But I’m looking forward to learning and growing and offering ideas to those I meet.
Each time I speak my confidence grows and I really have fun with it – I like sharing ideas and seeing nodding heads as I make key points.
I believe these speaking opportunities are a result of my praying about my business on a regular basis. I’ve been praying to use the talents God has given me and this is one way to do it (public speaking). And I’ve been praying to be led to the right places where I am needed – that seems to apply here as well. These ideas for prayer have come from my study of the book Science and Health by M.B. Eddy – it has a great chapter on prayer that I’ve read many times and broken down each idea and phrase about what powerful prayer is.
My prayer often focuses on being open to God leading me each step on the path that has been made for me. I’m flexible and willing to shift and adapt as God needs me. And that is the critical part here.
And it’s always good to remember who is really in charge, instead of thinking sole proprietor means you are the only one steering the ship. And I know that my openness and willingness to be the best expression of Mind, Love, and Principle I can be – is a blessing to me and those I encounter.
