The importance of following Spirit PDF Print E-mail
By K. Proctor

A hymn in the morning charts her path for the whole day.

“…I will listen for thy voice, lest my footstep stray. I will follow and rejoice all the rugged way.” This verse from a poem by Mary Baker Eddy popped into my head today when I was praying. I wrote it out as I heard it and started to break it down in my thought. Here is what I thought:

1) “I will listen” to God, Spirit – Listening to God and silencing my own will or opinion is important. When I listen to all-intelligent Mind I won’t get off the right path.

2) “I will follow” – God leads the way down the path that is right for me.

3) “And rejoice” – So when I listen and follow I know I’m on my right path and I can rejoice for ever-present God, who is all good and loves and cares for me.

4) “All the rugged way” – Notice this doesn’t promise a perfect path without challenges In our life. It is honest and still it assures us of the continual help we have in God no matter what the path looks like.

This makes me feel that I need to think less about the bumps on the road and more on listening and following... and then rejoicing.

Keeping thought more on God is always better than keeping it on problems. I find when I can fill my thought with God, I am open for more inspiration and blessings.
