A few weeks ago I had to make two public presentations. I am a confident person but was getting nervous a few days before the presentations.
I spent a lot of time honing my presentation points so I could present in the allotted time and get my key messages across. And I realized all-of-a-sudden that I could and should pray about these presentations too. And that was as valuable as the other preparation work.
When I thought of my motive, it was really to share what I know about building long-term customer relationships to help the audience grow their businesses.
I prayed to know that I had talent from God that I could easily express without any anxiety or concern – because Spirit was the one communicating to me I could certainly pass along what I know.
I prayed the morning of the event that I could have other qualities that God gave me – and be able to freely express them. Qualities like grace, poise, intelligence, wisdom and flexibility. I knew these talents would allow me to present clearly and respond to audience questions.
When I got to the event that day I didn’t feel nervous at all. I had lunch with the group and then it was my turn to talk. I stood right up with my notes and gave a calm and clear presentation and was able to answer questions at the end with no problems at all.
I was almost surprised how easy it went. I was able to talk without even using my notes most of the time. I felt in control during most of the speech and really had some fun when folks would nod at what I was saying and take notes. I just wanted to share ideas that would help their businesses grow and I think I did just that. Plus I learned more about making good presentations.
Just another example of the practical power of prayer for me and how it is continuing to bless my business.
