Work and life do not have to compete or collide. Basing activities in Spirit, they blend and bless.
Each day, as I sit at my desk, I am faced with a laundry list of action items that I have to complete. And because I work almost daily for over 20 clients, I really feel that each one MUST be completed. Of course, there are always the few that can be shuffled to the next day, but by mid-afternoon I have received another list of items to action, and the whole experience begins again.
With all of our client work, I also have to do the accounting, billing, reporting and am trying to increase my skills so that I can offer more services to our clients. But seeing as I don't want to be at my computer 24/7, I often wonder how this is all to be accomplished, or how long I can keep up this pace!
And then, did I mention, I have a 2 year old? He is at daycare only 4 days a week, which means this all has to get done in 4 days, not 5. And when he needs to stay home for whatever reason, my time gets cut again.
This is when I turn to Spirit for aid. Remember the Bible story of the loaves and the fishes ? Where thousands of people needed to be fed, with but a few fish and a few loaves of bread? This 'miracle' serves as a great reminder to me that with God, '...all things are possible .' And so I translate this example of Divine supply into time, rather than fish.
Last week, my son was sick, and needed to be home all week! EEK! I was feeling pressured with my work load already, and now I couldn't work AT ALL? I knew, however, that it was right, and an expression of Love, that I give my attention to my son. So I could not be punished, and my clients could not suffer, because of any action of Love.
I didn't know Monday, that he would be home all week, but I just fit in 15 minutes at my computer here, 40 minutes there, answering emails, actioning the most pressing issues, and all the while, trusting, knowing, that I was being cared for by my Father-Mother God, just as my son was being cherished and cared for by me. I worked a few hours every night, even though I was pretty tired from looking after a high-maintenance toddler every day, and was really amazed at how quickly many of my projects resolved themselves.
I was able to make quicker decisions, ad creations took very few drafts to be approved, suppliers and clients turned things around instantly (which NEVER happens) and all week, I felt very productive, relaxed and calm about everything.
It was such a wonderful example of Divine Mind guiding the situation, and I only ended up having to work a few hours on the weekend to catch up!
Praying, or actively recognizing that Spirit is in control, and expressing harmony in my life, really helps me to remain calm, and unstressed in situations such as this. I think that is much of what helps things to speed along. There is no resistance on my part to the situation, which makes the way clear for the natural, right activity to progress.
I may not have fed the thousands, but I would like to think that I demonstrated the supply of Divine Mind. The supply of right ideas, of activity, of Love. Read more from this blogger at DiscernDaily.
