Finding meaning in my life - 2006/05/27 20:55 I would love anyone's thought's on how they've found meaning in those times where it seems to have fled...where you've left a job or are doing work that doesn't give you fulfillment. I feel like the bottom dropped out of my life and I can't find the meaning and purpose that used to propel me forward. I don't feel productive right now...more like a hamster spinning their little exercise wheel in random tasks, just to pay the rent. Would love to know how others have found resolution or insight on this kind of thing.

Re:Finding meaning in my life - 2006/05/29 05:37 Deesha,

I cannot tell you I have the "secret sauce" and/or solution, but what I can share with you is to seek Him. Make Him the center of your life, your purpose and vision. The Pray of St Francis may help, but particularly this line "for it is in giving that we receive;"http://www.zarcrom.com/users/yeartorem/stfrancis.html) When we give, we get back. Give your heart to a cause and be proactive -- simply live it.
I am struggle as you are, but each day I pray that He will help me to serve Him best and those who believe. I sincerely hope this help.

Re:Finding meaning in my life - 2006/05/30 03:58 Deesha,

Thanks for starting this post. I have been where you are, and I cannot say that it won't happen to me again

I think that is apart of our individual growth. You get passionate about something, you learn from it, and then you realize that it is not inspiring or fulfilling anymore, so maybe it's time to find the next thing.

For me, I have an overall spiritual "purpose", but it is not tied to a specific work or job, but rather the overall qualities that make up me. This way, I can do many things, different things, and still feel inspired, but not limited to a single occupation or field. Plus, my purpose helps me gauge work to see if it falls in line with who I am.

My spiritual purpose is this:

To...

Reflect only Love,
Expect only perfection,
Accept only Truth,
Project only Light!

I hope this helps!

Re:Finding meaning in my life - 2006/06/06 02:04 Don,

Thanks so much for this. It's really really helpful! Sometimes it seems so dark...like I haven't accomplished anything in my life and am not headed anywhere. It feels like I need a jumpstart! Was there a time like that for you?

Yes. In fact I struggle with that every day. I have had a relatively successful career, but I think God always presses on us to move forward. If fact I feel more "pressure" today than ever before. I love this statement from Collin Powell, "I have never gone through life driven with an ambition or a vision that there was something I must accomplish on some grand scale.."

Keep the faith. Press on. Believe. Pray
