Can Spirit decrease stress at work? - 2006/05/03 19:45 I have a lot of stress at work plus family responsibilities. How can spirituality help relieve this constant weight I feel? I used to be happier...I haven't felt that in a long time.

Re:Can Spirit decrease stress at work? - 2006/05/03 20:19 Oh, yes, I am sure it can! It has for me, many times. For example, one time I was feeling extremely stressed - I was making a transition to another position within the company for which I worked, and was basically (at least was trying!) to work both positions for the time being. These positions were conflicting in needs - one was very active, almost hectic pace and of the moment; the other (the new one) demanded quiet time and thought. I knew I was not giving the new position the attention it deserved and that I wanted to give it. Just couldn't seem to until I could move on from the other position! Frustration, stress, etc. set in.

One day I really called out to the Divine for help - wholeheartedly. The message I got back was a quote from Mary Baker Eddy's book Science and Health - "We are all capable of more than we do." I just laughed! Here I felt like I had a plateful to do, and God is telling me I am capable of doing more! That idea and the laughter it generated - a powerful spiritual quality in my book - broke the stress for me. After that, the stress and frustrations were gone and I was able to find ways to better handle the needs of each of the positions. It was still a month or so before the transition was resolved (and that by my being offered another position I never dreamed of but that really fit my abilities), but I enjoyed the time so much more.

So, small example, but yes! spirituality can relieve this burden you feel and help you find happiness again.

Re:Can Spirit decrease stress at work? - 2006/07/06 16:01 I find praying each morning is a good place to start. It grounds me in the truth about God, about me, about my family and about how I'm connected to God's unlimited resources and love.

Working from those inspiring ideas (I try and get new inspiration each day) I can get up and ready with ease and without dread. Also I am always working to reconnect to those ideas and that sense of peace from the morning. Think about what God's presence does in your life - focus on God and less on the little stuff and I find I can less the sense of personal workload and related stress.

God is the one in charge. That helps me.
