 what should I do? - 2006/06/06 05:53 Hi. I'm in a job right now that I don't like. It's not challenging enough. I get sooo bored during the day! But I need the money. So it's tough. Recently, the boss hired a new employee who's really difficult to work with. This, on top of the fact that I'm not thrilled with the job itself, makes me want to quit. But I'm scared. Any ideas? How would you guys pray about this?

 Re:what should I do? - 2006/06/06 16:17 hi, audrey. What is it that you are afraid of? looking for another job? It seems to me that the most important thing for you in work is to feel fulfilled, to feel that you are making a contribution to your workplace, your customers and even your own spiritual development. If this is not happening, then one suggestion i have is to focus on your own spiritual peace, right where you are. How can you give love today? How can you make a positive difference to a fellow worker? This might lead you into new directions right there. Also, i have known friends who created a "spiritual resume" when they were looking for new work opportunities. This is like listing what spiritual qualities do you have to offer an employer (even the one you have right now!)...and most important, what is your spiritual purpose in having any job -- that higher purpose that transcends the tasks and job position. Hope this helps
make sure you come back and share any progress you are having! One thing i know for sure and that is you have spiritual talents that must be employed everyday -- Spirit makes it so!

 Re:what should I do? - 2006/06/06 20:49 I would pray to know how I could think about the situation. I find correcting my thought about the situation and about each person helps a lot. I found I have to let go of judgements and personal ego observations and focus on how God defines those involved.

That takes some doing. It can be tough to do but is important - to change thought and be willing to let go of personal observations to spiritual observations.

And with those kinds of foundational prayers lead to other action many times for me too. Perhaps it might led to how to communicate with your boss about finding more challenges at work, and maybe lead to a new way to think about and engage the new person (in a way that doesn't drive you nuts).

The fact that you are asking about how to pray, means you know prayer can help. And it really can. I've found prayer so helpful in work situations many, many times.

I know it can help you too.

And if you have time at work, pray then too. What I've done is "type" out a prayer and then delete it. It helps focus my thought at work. And it will help you on the spot. So doing it at work is fine. That is how I think through the change of thought (by writing).

 Re:what should I do? - 2006/06/10 14:27 jpo and pwrpuff, thought you'd like to know that things at work have picked up significantly since my last post! I had a meeting with my boss on Thursday (at her initiative) and was given some more substantial projects to work on. Plus, the new employee who has been so difficult is working fewer hours these days. I think Spirit is helping me and helping her find a better fit... Thanks for all your good thoughts. They're powerful!
