staying organized - 2006/10/06 18:36 I work from my home, and I love it. trouble is, I get so easily distracted! or I'll do volunteer work or hobbies or anything some days rather than things that are actually billable. I'm getting plenty of work, I just don't always want to do it.

how can I learn to like what I'm doing for money as much as all the other stuff I want to do?

Re:staying organized - 2006/10/09 00:58 Is there a chance maybe you need to do different work?

Sometimes if you can find something you are passionate about it - it isn't as easy to be distracted. That is one idea.

Other idea is to create blocks of time and truly keep a calendar. Allow yourself time for other activities but put in time for real work time. Would an hour break at lunch with time = maybe 30 minutes to do a bit of your other work would help. Then when the calendar says get back to paid work - do it.

That is another option.

Good luck.

Re:staying organized - 2006/10/09 18:09 wow, you've really hit the nail on the head.... while I love working from home, I don't especially love the work I'm doing that is enabling me to do so. I'll have to ruminate more on that.

your "stick to a schedule" idea is practical and helpful, I'm doing better at that this week.

but finding my passion, eh? gotta put that on the to-do list!
