do I tell her mother? - 2006/08/29 18:13 I'm close friends with a business colleague, and I also work with her daughter in a volunteer setting.

I happen to know from becoming friends with the daughter that she smokes weed -- a lot. And has been for several years. My dilemma is whether or not to tell her mom? The daughter is out of the house now in college, but that may be making the problem even worse. The daughter is a great person, by the way, and wants to quit smoking.

I'm just wondering if it's my business, do I owe it to the mom to say something? Or will it just stir up things that the mom can't control anyway? I know she got VERY upset when her daughter got her naval pierced.

I just feel bad about it. Maybe what I'm really asking is, how to pray when you know something someone else should know but doesn't?

You are making a huge assumption here, that someone SHOULD know something. And then you want to know how to pray about enforcing that assumption on someone. That sounds like just wanting some "divine" justification for affirming your own opinion. If the girl is of age, then she is free to do as she chooses - especially since her mom seems so uptight about trivial things anyway.

Re:do I tell her mother? - 2006/09/06 11:28 hi, thanks for your down-to-earth advice.

just wanted to update you.... I heard from the girl who is now at college. she tells me that for some reason she's not even interested in weed since she got there, even though it's available everywhere. maybe she's got too much else to do!

I'm so proud of her!

Re:do I tell her mother? - 2006/09/06 14:43 Why are you "proud of her?" Because she agrees with you that weed is bad?

Re:do I tell her mother? - 2006/09/06 15:15 well, she wanted to quit, and she did quit. can I not be proud of her for that?
