The joy of gratitude - 2006/07/27 07:51 While seeking my next employment opportunity, I had a rare evening tonight to just be very quiet for a period of about two hours in a totally quiet house. I found myself enjoying everything: the soft whir of the fan, the occasional dog bark across the street, the stray kitten playing on the back patio, and the reverence of gratitude for all this and so much more.

My inexpensive living arrangements, my very generous landlady, my efficient car, my not having to drive 25+ miles to work these days, a group of encouraging mentors, etc., etc.

After a while my landlady came in and we chatted for a while. She told me not to worry about the rent for a while. She's just glad to have me there. This takes what felt like a burden off me. I think she was influenced toward this decision because of the gratitude I often express.

Tonight has been a real joy spending it in gratitude.
